About

Welcome to the SeaPerch @ MIT Blog!

Who Are We

Hi, Kathryn Shroyer here – coordinator for engineering education initiatives at MIT Sea Grant.  At MIT Sea Grant, we create a variety of resources and programs aimed at immersing k-12 students, educators, and the community in ocean engineering though hands-on design projects.  One such project is the SeaPerch ROV, a simple underwater vehicle that can be designed and built in the classroom by all skill levels.

Over the years, the SeaPerch ROV project has grown into a community of builders across the country as well as overseas.   SeaPerch @MIT Blog is the voice of MIT Sea Grant as well as the greater community of engineers, students, scientists, and educators brought together by the SeaPerch ROV project and a passion for learning and sharing ocean engineering knowledge and skills.

What is this blog all about?

Our mission is simple — share what’s happening in the world of SeaPerch.  This includes a variety of engineering education efforts sponsored by MIT Sea Grant as well as updates from the greater SeaPerch community.
